The cost of this project is supported by a grant given to Central Washington University students from the Joint Center for Aerospace Technology. The carbon fiber recycler is a team project with four members focused on different compartments of the project. There are four main components to this project, the first one is the crusher, second one is the shredder, third one is the pyrolysis device, and the last one is the oven. The amount of time needed to replace the chain drive to a synchronous belt drive will be less than making the housing for each belt drive. The estimated total of hours for this project is approximately 250 hours and an average CNC machinist makes $24 an hour. The total cost of labor is $6000.
